Coloradans Gear Up For A Snowy Season of SkiingGetting Ready For Ski and Snowboard Winter Season 2008/2009The North American state of Colorado known for its fantastic ski slopes officially recognized the commencement of the ski and snowboard season of 2008/2009 on Nov. 13.
With the commencement of the Colorado ski season having begun, thousands of national and international ski and snowboard bums and tourists will converge on the Rocky Mountains located in the United States. Ski resort officials are enthusiastically prepping for the 2008/2009 winter season, which thus far, has been rather dry and warm with temperatures ranging in the 60s and 70s across the Colorado front range with few heavy snows. However, both Loveland and A-Basin, two of the smaller and locally-supported resorts have already opened their doors claiming overworked snow-making machines as the reason to swing by and down the mountains of these resorts. Intimate Colorado Ski Resort Open For BusinessLoveland Ski Area, which is actually located near Georgetown at Loveland Pass and not at Loveland the city, opened its doors on Oct. 15, with a spectacular greeting for skiers and snowboarders. By Halloween, Oct. 31, they already had 9 inches of fresh powder, with snow-making machines hard at work. Additionally, the resort, which is at an elevation of 11,018 feet, continues to see changes of snow ranging between 60 and 100 percent for the week, marking a great start to the season. Season pass ticket prices range for those renewing a previous season pass, however, for adults 23 and up a season pass can be purchased at $339, young adults aged 15 to 22 can grab a season's pass at $269, and children with ages ranging between 6 to 14 can get a season pass for $149.
